Amazon.com Review Untitled Document Your purchase of the World Food Programme FEED bag feeds one child in school for one school year. The FEED Project is a partnership between the United Nations World Food Program and Lauren Bush, WFP Honorary Spokesperson. | | Lauren Bush Honorary Spokesperson for the UN World Food Programme | "FEED is a project I initiated to help fight child hunger. For the past 3 years I have been an Honorary Spokesperson for the UN World Food Program (WFP), which is the food-aid arm of the UN humanitarian forces. Throughout my time as a volunteer, I have gotten to travel to 7 countries around the world (Guatemala, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Chad, Lesotho, Tanzania, and Honduras) that are all receiving food aid from WFP. The people I have met during my travels struggle each day to obtain one of the most basic human needs--food. It breaks my heart to think that every 5 seconds a child dies needlessly of hunger and malnutrition."
| | "But the most hopeful thing I have seen during my travels is WFP's school feeding program, where kids are given a lunch meal in school each day. This is incentive enough for kids to attend school when they might not normally, and the meal is nutritious enough for kids to stay healthy and engaged in their studies. It is truly inspiring to see kids, who are born into extreme poverty, in school eager to learn and improve their lives!" | | | "The FEED bag is a sturdy, reversible bag made out of natural burlap and cotton materials. The design of the bag was inspired by the big bags of food that I have seen being distributed to schools around the world. Besides being a cool bag, it is a tangible way to make a difference in the fight against child hunger. Every FEED bag sold will feed a child for a whole year in school! Thank you for your support of the FEED project! With your help we will be making a big difference in children's lives around the world, one child at a time. So wear your bag with pride!" |

Love it! April 25, 2007 Lost in MI (MI United States) 61 out of 67 found this review helpful
I love this (tote) bag. Good quality, very sturdy. I like that it is reversible, it's like having two bags in one! The white side makes it look sporty and the other side it's for a more natural look. On the white side it has three pockets, one on the front (could store a magazine) and two on the sides (perfect for cell pone, keys, etc). I will take this bag with me to classes, travels, oh... and I guess it could even work for my knitting stuff! Add to all above that it's for a good cause... excellent!

When I read what Lauren Bush said, my immediate thought was that I could provide at least one hungry child with food for one year by purchasing this bag. I'm a senior citizen living on a fixed income. By lowering my food expenses $10 for six weeks I purchased this bag (free shipping from Amazon). I, now, use this bag to purchase my weekly groceries. Not only am I feeding one child for a year, I also am doing my small part for the environment by not using the plastic/paper containers.
Thank you! ...Ann Forster, Foxborough, MA
Perfection in a Bag April 3, 2007 Michael Glynn (New York) 48 out of 60 found this review helpful
To be able to get something this stylish and practical while supporting such a heart-warming cause is just incredible. Its a consumer's dream. We need more products like this. I've never felt so good about a purchase. It was the perfect gift for my mom and sister who both love the bag and the story.
Wonderful Bag : ) April 22, 2007 Ashley C. Harcrow 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I highly reccommend this bag for anyone! It is a big tote, which is perfect for a college campus, the airport, the beach... really for any purpose. It is reversable and I was very suprised at how durable it is (great quality). When people compliment the bag it allows an opportunity to share its cause- which in the end is the most important part.
Wonderful Product and Program June 7, 2007 JoDee Schallehn (Omaha, NE USA) I LOVE THIS BAG!!
At first I thought I really don't need another bag. Then after reading about this program and what the bag is made of, I realized I did NEED this bag after all.
This bag exceeded my expectations. The size is much bigger than I thought it would be. The fact that it's reversible helps and made of organic products is wonderful.
I am a mother of a beautiful healthy 2 year old and knowing that I have made a difference in a child's life is such a wonderful feeling. I am planning on buying more bags to keep on hand for gifts! Hopefully any other people reading this review will be inspired to do the same.
I look forward to more products in the future!
